At higher stages it might depend on your area of interest. Just one example: if you are into sciences, you might find Russian for students of technical professions quite entertaining. If you aren't, reading about planets, Newton's laws, liquid crystals and diffraction of light is going to be boring as hell.

Fortunately, a enormous amount of Russian textbooks on different topics is published in Russia because foreign students still enroll in Russian universities.

What beginner books did you use? I like Colloquial Russian, but I don't know if you'd consider that beginner or intermediate... it starts out with beginner stuff, but gets more intense, and has you reading and translating entire paragraphs at a time quickly. I wouldn't recommend it to a rank beginner. It's also got an audio component that is more than just following along with the book.

ETA: I just saw that you're between intermediate and advanced, so it might be too easy for you.

I used Руский Язык для Начинающих by Овсиенко. I really liked it. It paralleled well with my classes. I really recommend it. I will check it out thank you!

Interesting. Did you find it difficult to follow along a book written in the target language? I just googled it and there is a pdf of a book by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (Kharkiv National Academy). Is that the one?

By the way, if you find a copy of the Colloquial Russian book, either digital or hard copy, the audio is available for free on their website. http://www.routledgetextbooks.com/textbooks/colloquial/russian.php

It was difficult at first but I really appreciated it. I had people who could help explain things to me so it wasn't too big of a deal. It helped me learn a more official vocab.

By the way, where do you live, approximately? Not that every Russian book I saw was marvellous but there is quite a number of them published over here, some of which might be good indeed («Окно в Россию»?).

If you are talking about the Russian, i would recommend your ANY book about the grammar of Russian language. You have a lot of grammar mistakes, so I can't say that your are advanced.

For the record. I passed the B1 Exam in May. I was much more proficient than that and would have come close to passing the B2 exam, it was more a matter of vocab rather than grammar. On another program mandated exam I received an Advanced Low proficiency. I have since left the Russian speaking community I was in, and havent spoken it since then. Naturally things have waned and I have found it hard to maintain my level while just talking to myself. Im trying to turn that around now. I would like to point out politely, that I did not ask for your opinion of my proficiency and asked rather for books that would help me.
