Russian course – accents
I have gladly noticed that some words do have their accents marked. Is there a chance you would do that for the entire course? It's difficult to pay attention to them if your native language does not, especially when they shift in declension. That would help a lot.
Thanks for the course, by the way :)

This is extremely odd. Duolingo already ignores a bunch of characters (i.e. punctuation), and as there are no accented Cyrillic letters, the combining accent mark is just one character to add to the ignore list. I can't fathom how may it be a problem since they already use much more advanced things like approximative matching – even the Spanish course ignores accented letters, which, in that case, are separate letters codewise...
Hello, American English speaker here (Native.), I know how you feel about being serious about learning Russian, (trust me, I've been self teaching myself for a little over a year.) but I think that they didn't put the accent marks on all letters/words for a few reasons. #1: People are learning this language for the first time, so they want it to be kind of easy. #2: It's still in beta, so some of that might change. #3: I might just be too much trouble. Sorry, I hate sounding mean...
Hey, now. :) I know, I'm not a very good speller. And yes, the 'stupid American' (Dur dur dur, Iz an American! It's not entirely true!) stereotype is sadly true for about half our population. But I'm actually smart. I'm just not the best speller went it comes to certain things. Thanks for pointing that out. Also, you don't have to answer, but what country are you from?
Hey! First of all let me start off by saying that at no point did I imply any spelling error on your behalf, as you've had commited none insofar this thread is concerned. Second of all, what I did point out it's that I can think of no other nationality whose representatives are afraid of offending others even by answering questions about the factual nature of the world, implying both avuncularity of politness and certain obsession about political correctness ;) Third of all, I do believe you are smart (especially since you told me) and again, at no point did I imply otherwise ;) To answer your final question, I am Polish :¬]
