Polish is at 99% !
I don't want to jinx anything, but Polish is at 99% in the incubator (98 on the "Add a new course page"). I was hoping to get started on it in the New Year, but it looks like I may be able to during November (if things go smoothly like the speech tech etc).
Just want to say - well done to the all the team working hard at getting it in place.
I don't think it will be November. All the course content may be finished if they keep up the pace, but that last % of just review and fixing things before release can often take a month or two itself. I will be delighted if the course is out by Christmas, But not keeping my hopes too high.
I think it would be available at Christmas. But you are right. They need to review all Tips and Notes, receive and apply the TTS and fix last minutes problems and that takes a while
Christmas presents are made by elves on the pole, not polish elves. Easy to confuse.
Both of these... But are not the two languages polar opposites?
IVONA, the company that makes most of Duo's TTSs is Polish, so I'm sure they'll have good software for it.
Oh I didn't know IVONA was Polish company :) so it seems likely that they will use TTS
I have been waiting for this one for ages to resume my Polish learning. I am very much looking forward to it.
I second this, it’s a very interesting book! (at least if you are into grammar)
Polish will be the new Russian. "Is Polish done yet?", "Polish says it'll be done tomorrow, and it's been saying that for a week!", etc.
Definitely looking forward to this one!
Made an effort with PL with the Michel Thomas course a while back, but never gained much traction with it (unusually, as I usually find those courses a good shoe-in). To this day, despite it having been on my to-do list for a fair while, I can understand quite a bit of Polish but not really speak (or write) it at all. With so many Poles around here (my local area, I mean), it's quite a noticeable gap in my language set, so I'll be very pleased to get what promises to be a respectable basic starting ground in Polish from DL :)
Remember the old jokes on Polish? :') So is... like... Klingon the new Polish?
No not Klingon , Yiddish is like new polish.
Do you remember there was a "Duo Goes" Post where Duo was praying for Polish. Then Duo went to Poland in next trip feeling sorry for the course. That owl must be happy ;)
I've been waiting for Polish for ages, so excited that it is almost done! Go Team Polish!
Oh boy, I'm excited but I'm already seriously learning Russian and Dutch so polish will just add to the chaos. And I do want to learn polish
When you didn't capitalize Polish. I was reading that as if you were polishing your language skills o_o lol
Yeah I was bored in class so I went on Duolingo and it wouldn't auto capitalize Polish
Very excited to start this, especially given my Polish heritage. Also, with how much I've been struggling with Russian, I imagine Polish should be easier.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Polish! I want polish to be the first slavic language I learn. However I know it has one of the hardest grammars but daym ,I need to learn that
I'm really looking forward to Polish. I know a few Polish people and am looking forward to being able to get some face to face practice in eventually
It would be completely awesome if the course came out before New Years! I've been looking for a good Polish course for a couple years now, and when I saw that the Duolingo site had a course for Polish in the works, I was so excited! I could've possibly contributed to the course, but sadly, the last person in my family who could speak Polish, my grandfather, passed away before I could ever meet him.
On a brighter note, let's all get on the hype-train for the Polish for English speakers course!
