pronunciation questions

I have a few questions about pronunciation. This is assuming that you are saying the letters as in the alphabet with the o sound at the end. I find it a bit easier to take the sounds apart in this way. I am looking for confirmation or denial that I am saying these sounds right, or another way to think about how they should be spoken.

C: Stow without the w?

Ĝ: Is it said like Joe?

Ĵ: Zoe?

S: Sew, so, sow?

Ŝ: Show without the w?

Z: I'm not sure what to compare this one to mostly just the impression that sound is longer and softer than Ĵ.

Also when you are doing a lesson and there is no pronunciation provided, clicking on discuss sentence will then show a button to click for sound. Sometimes I get sound and sometimes I do not. I was wondering if others are having this problem as well? I can't tell if the sound file is not there, I have lag or if it is a problem with my computer. I can report it as a bug, but thought I would see first if it is just me.

"C: Stow without the w?" - No, it's like the "ts" sound at the end of the word "cats", for example.

"Ĵ: Zoe?" - No, it's like the sound in "pleasure", "leisure", "measure". It's the "zs" sound in "Zsazsa Gabor". Or like the "j-" sound in the French word "je".

"Z: I'm not sure what to compare this one to mostly just the impression that sound is longer and softer than Ĵ." - No, this is just "z" like in "Zoe".

S = so Ŝ = sho C = tso Ĵ = zho Ĝ = joe z = zo Yes, as you pointed out, try to get in the habit of eliminating the "w" sound at the end as is common in English. This will clear it all up for you in a few minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhICpe4jVG0
