Any Dutch here?
Do you guys think you can tell me a little about your culture? I think Netherlands is an amazing country because I have been to Amsterdam and I must say I loved it :). Just wanted a heads-up on your culture?
Well I'm Dutch but it's kind of hard to summarize your entire culture, it's a really big thing :p Is there anything specific about the Netherlands you want to know?
Um actually yea... What do you guys do on weekends or where do you tend to eat and are there any specific meals that are specials in Netherlands?
Well I don't think we do much different stuff from everyone else? We go out, just hang out, do some activities, etc. Kind of depends on the person :p
As for foods, we mostly eat at home or at work I think. And a typical Dutch meal would be "hutspot", which is essentially mashed potatoes with carrots, onions and saugage. :p
Oh I see... hmm wow I think hutspot would definitely be in my checklist, must be very tasty hey?
Well I personally like it but it isn't the greatest food ever or something. :p
However this time of the year there are also a lot of types of candy for sale which I would definitel recommend!
There are pepernoten and kruidnoten at the moment, which are associated with the Sinterklaas holiday. They're some kind of small cookies.
There is also stroopwafels which are available the entire year, they're definitely tasty.
Also during newyear we have oliebollen which are some kind of dumpling made by putting an amount of dough into a deep fryer filled with hot oil. Sounds weird, but tastes pretty good :)
Haha well the first and third can easily be made yourself, just look up some recipes and you can make them :) But if you ever get the opportunity to buy any of those I'd recommend it ^^
Maar veel succes met het leren van Nederlands! :)
Wow that's some candy. In Canada we don't really find any of these stuff in stores but yea looking at this makes me feel very hungry right now haha :). I should try everything now
