Yes. And also there's "тут", which is almost always interchangeable with "здесь ".
Да. I often thing of вот as being something like "here you go." You would use it when you give something to someone.
вот can also function as an interjection: вот так да!, вот тебе и на! (there you are!), ну вот! (that’s all!)
