Turkish Survey! Good for building vocab! :)

In my search for Turkish soap operas with english subtitles, I ran across this. It is a "which would you rather" kind of flashcard survey. You vote and can see results. Most are pretty basic so I feel its good for beginners. Every now and then, there will be a hard hitting question and its interesting because there are differences between American and Turkish cultures.

thanks for sharing the link. It is a useful site to take a break from learning intensively and still doing some turkish!

I am sure it will be covered in a future lesson, but i was wondering if someone could help me with the meaning of mı/mi.

In some of the choices there is for example: çay mı / kahve mi while in others it is just: çay / kahve

Is there any difference in meaning? I briefly searched the discussion but couldn't find anything helpful

thanks!

MI or Mi are like question marks, when you add those at the end of your sentence you make a questions so, it ask coffee or tea(?) without putting the question marks, but instead it puts these endings.

Thanks for the link!

And kind of irrelevant, but did you find Turkish shows with English subs? I have found a couple of episodes here and there with subs but never an actual complete tv show.

Muhteşem Yüzyıl is the only Turkish series with subtitles I ever found. You can find it on Youtube.

Oh I didn't know it has been subbed in English. I watched a couple of episodes on TV during the summer actually and I liked it quite a lot.

Kuzey Güney is also subbed I'm thinking.

Yes, you can find some episodes of KG subtitled. Regardless of that, I watched both of the two series, from start to finish in Turkish. I didn't understand a whole lot, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and got well into the story. What a great way to immerse oneself!
