Great job! I just started Italian.
This may be generous but with a dictionary handy I could read and understand ok. Normal speed speech I could pick out words and phrases, Occasionally I might get a whole sentence. With a patient and slow speaker and much repeating I could understand pretty well. I can express myself in only the simplest ways. I hope doing the reverse tree will improve the latter. eventually I must practice with a native speaker.
Reverse tree is where you change your settings so that the language you are learning is set as your native language, and go to the lessons for your native language. Since Duolingo's lessons seems to focus on translating from the language you are learning to your native language, doing lessons this way lets you learn translating to the language you're learning.
"Imparare, imparare, imparare!" ha detto Lenin ed in questa sola cosa lui ha raggione :D (Forse lui diceva "studiare, studiare, studiare" ma anche quello e' giusto.)
