Learning languages by color?

Has anyone ever looked down the course list, and really paid attention to all the pretty colors associated with the courses? Black with German and Klingon, Blue with Dutch and Swedish, Yellow with Ukrainian and Spanish, Red with French and Turkish and lastly Green with Esperanto and Italian. I always thought that was interesting and I always thought despite being a silly idea, it would be interesting if someone were to learn all the languages on Duolingo of one color. Like they have no language preference, so they just say "I am going to learn all the GREEN languages, or I am going to learn all the RED languages." does anyone ever say this to themselves? Has this idea ever legitimately been considered? If you had not heard of it before? Would you consider it now? Is there any color you has the most languages you would want to learn? I would say RED for me. <3

Also! What colors do you think future courses would have as their background? I would imagine Japanese and Chinese having Red as their background, Korean with blue, I think I heard Albanian could easily be another black course?

Actually the ENTIRE reason I first learned Japanese was because I just really liked the flag (Because I'm a flag geek) :P

However when Guarani comes out, I'm definetely taking it, and mabye russian so I guess you could say I might be learning the red white and blue languages :3 But I would never just learn all those languages just to have a group of colours. But they do have a huge effect on me (ecspecially the flags!)!

Haha the flag is a red dot. I know it has a whole background meaning but it strikes me kind of funny because you joined because of a flag with a red dot.

Haha, your comment really made me laugh. Thanks for that :D

It is kinda funny, I know what you mean XD

I just really like flags, and was a flag geek before I was language geek. It is just such a cool red dot, haha. The colors are perfect for me, so attractive to the eyes.

People always ask "Why did you learn Japanese?". I'm almost emberassed to tell them "Because I LOVE Japan's flag!". Instead I just say "The writing system is amazing, and the language sounds lovely spoken. The culture is just so rich and unique in Japan!"

Many of the languages I have learned are because of the flags usually associated with them. Like I'm learning Guarani now because I like the paraguayan flag :P Still, Japan's flag is the best.

Idk, I guess i'm just weird. Look at me, getting excited over flags... Atleast now people know I can be manipulated easily XD

Actually, I am a flag geek too. I love flags. When I was 7 I memorized every country's flag in the world. My memory is deteriorating but I still know several flags. Not to distract you from language learning, but www.flag-game.net is a fun game (at least for me)

Awesome game! Haha, very fun! Thanks :D

I don't know ever flag, but I know quite a lot. Out of curiosity, what is your favourite flag?

I like flags as well so I can relate. I honestly want to learn Estonian just because Estonia's flag is so pretty (at least, I think so). I'm glad that I'm not the only flag geek out there!

No, however, I've always thought it'd be cool to know 1 of every kind of language: Germanic: English (kinda) Romantic: Spanish Slavic: Russian Eastern type languages: Chinese Arabic: Arabic

Sounds cool, So far I am learning 4 native american languages (A majority of them are in this group) and 1 asian language. Now mabye I should learn one european and african one to complete the thing (mabye greek for euro)! Or just keep stacking languages from just asia and the Americas XD What languages do you study?

Sounds exciting! Right now I'm just learning Spanish. I'd love to learn Russian but I don't really have a practical use for it. How often do you speak the native American languages to other people?

Interesting question. I have noticed the colors and thought about them. The biggest affect they've had on me, though is that I now think of them in that way. When I think of German, I think of that black background with the building, and same with other languages. Now that I think about it, though, this is really the only reason I started (and totally forgot about within a week) Italian.

Me too! I find the black background and the building appealing to me. Welsh also interest me because of the monument and the green background (I don't know why but I keep thinking Welsh's monument is a huge fish/whale placed on two standing rocks XD) Well, I guess same goes to the other courses. But I don't think this is main the reason I started German and French (actually, I don't really have a strong reason why I want to learn German and French)

¡¡Hi - Hola!! Haha, That's why I love/like having all the avalaible languages course. If you show my languages, you could see all languages... Well and I see the important sculture in the circle of each language. ¡I thought I was the only one who seeing colors was inspirated! Excuse my English, I know I must improve it Regards - Saludos, Mr.Multilingual.

No, but I have thought about the colors in a diffferent way. I'm currently working on a yellow language and the next language I'm about to start is also yellow. I didn't want to have two languages of the same colors in a roll, but that's how it worked out.

Initially, I only had black, yellow, and a lot of red. Over the summer, I added Esperanto and dabbled in the romance languages, so I added three green courses. Whenever I went to change to one of those in the app, it just looked wrong to have a green bar. Glad someone else noticed it. :P

I've also thought about the language courses and their color association from time to time, though oddly enough, the only color of languages that I am not learning right now is yellow.

I do always pay attention to the colours of the courses probably because I love bright colours (you should see my school notes). It's quite funny saying that because the first language I picked on Duolingo was German which is black. It has never crossed my mind to learn all of one colour though. If I did it would probably be red or blue.
