Duolingo weekly discussion button idea

I had an idea I thought I'd throw out there. I don't know if it's already been pitched. Here goes.

What if there was a button in the Discussion tab for the most popular discussions of the week or month? That way useful discussions wouldn't get buried (as often) and people could get a shortcut to more developed discussions.

Thoughts?

Edit: Forgot to add that it probably wouldn't be needed for smaller languages like Dutch where there are only about ten new discussions a week. But it would be useful for Spanish and probably French and Portuguese (or something, not sure how flooded the discussion tab is there) or some of the 'to English' courses.

How is this different to the Popular tab?

Thank you for pointing that out. It's pretty much the same thing but I'm think more along the lines of the most popular things being at the top, not restricted by how long ago in the month they were posted until they pass the month mark. But very similar. After further investigation into the Popular tab there wouldn't need to be a new button, just slightly different criteria.

Yes, an improved Popular tab would be good. I don't know its current criteria - I guess it is some balance of number of comments, up votes and being recent. Perhaps there could be a sliding scale where you select how far back it should sample popularity?
