I think "on the team" is better English. Unless she is inside of her team, but I dont think that is what is trying to be conveyed here;)
I agree that on the team is a better English translation.
In 64 years I have never said "in" the team.

It's not really idiomatic. You'd need to use "on" or "in".

In english, 'in', 'on', or 'of' could all work, but 'on' probably works best and would be used most.
