Small question

I did as you asked: rinne mé mar a d'iarr tú

What is that a doing in there? is it some sort of relative clause thing? But if it is, I don't understand it. Wouldn't that translate to I did as that you asked?

It's a relative clause. "I did like you asked". mar a is needed for 'like'. mar by itself means 'because'

Think of it literally as:

I did like that you asked
