Sounds at the end of words.

I have noticed that there appear to be many schwa sounds "ə" in here especially with the "e" likes in grácies or dones. Is there a guideline to where this sound occurs in the language and which letters are affected by it. I wasn't sure if it was like Portuguese where there appears to be a vowel reduction on unstressed vowels.

Except in Valencia and some parts of Catalonia (e.g. Lleida), there's a relatively regular system of vowel reduction - unstressed a and e become a schwa, whilst unstressed o becomes a u.

Exactly this schwa sound appears when the vowel A or E is not 'strong'. You can check a small explanation in 'Comida' lesson
