คำแนะนำ ภาษาไทย (ระบบการเขียน)

Hello everyone! I have a freind trying to learn some Thai. Well, how to read it for now. I have heard Thai is the most complicated writing system to learn, and it is a bit hard to find resources out there. So can anyone lend any good resources for learning how to read Thai?

He knows what he is getting into, as he has studied many language and is bilingual :D

By the way, if you play my translation game, sorry for not posting today, there will be 2 tommorow!

My freind says Thank you!

Just a side note from me, I kinda see why he wants to learn how to read it. It looks almost alien to me, and cool.

Thai looks Indic to me. Burmese, on the other hand, looks like Martian.

Thai is not that hard, however learning the writing system is important. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of resources out there. โชคดีครับ

Oh boy, we have 44 letters and 32 vowels; some of them aren't used or seldom used. When reading, you are almost going to always mispronounce (I am helping my friends learning Thai) since Thai is tonal. So, I suggest your friend to have his tones down or at least be familiar with them. Grammar is super easy: no punctuation, no tenses, that's why I always start with teaching my friends useful phrases before helping them with the writing.

Yes, yes, he has read all about it he says. Thanks for the advice he says, I am working on my tones.

Also for that last part you wrote. My friend's native language also uses no spaces in between words, so I don't think that will be a problem for him.

I learnt to read basic Thai before I stayed there. I found these links were very helpful:

http://www.fluentin3months.com/reading-thai-tones-is-easy/

http://www.fluentin3months.com/phonetic-script-can-be-learned-quickly/

http://stujay.com/2009/06/19/cracking-thai-fundamentals-video-clips-stuart-jay-raj%E2%80%99s-thai-vowel-hand-signs/

It's actually funny, that when I was over there I could read signs and pronounce them, but I didn't know what they said

I got started with learning Thai not too long ago - I bought this book on Amazon, which seems nice in that they start with a transliteration in the Latin alphabet, but also introduces some of the Thai writing system in each chapter. I haven't made it too far, but from what I've heard it's one of the better resources out there.
