Dictionary dialect help

Dictionaries give multiple translations for different words, and I was wondering if there is a way to know which translation is preferred in a given dialect. A lot of words I look up have three different translations, and I can't help but think that each one is the preferred form in each of the three main dialects. Is there any way to find out which translation corresponds to which dialect?

Words often have multiple meanings, depending on context, in any language. While there are some some dialect differences, most of the multiple meanings that you see are just that - different aspects on the same word, depending on context.

I know they have multiple meanings, but each dialect, from what i understand, will sometimes use some words almost exclusively. Like the word for think has ceap, síl and meas, so how do I know which one which dialect uses most of the time, or are they always interchanged?

You'll have to ask native speakers and interact with literature written by native speakers that uses dialectal forms.
