"I want to see the menu." seems like a valid translation but is not accepted.

yes, and you could also mean "I want to see the card" (poker)

How do you translate: "I want to view the map"? According to Duolingo, to view != to see. This comes as a big suprise to me since they're both derived from the same Latin word videre.

Please enlighten me.
