Well that makes 4 trees done. I don't know what to do next, I am just waiting for Welsh to come out. I started this tree only 3 months ago and was instantly sucked into it. The Danish tree really helped me realize that I really like Nordic languages. Although Danish isn't really "useful" for someone like me in the United States, I really like it and i still find it as a fun challenge. This tree really helps because I am able to understand majority of conversation when I watch videos in Danish or when I read articles. I would like to thank Duolingo and especially the Danish team for making this course very user friendly and fun.

Mange tak for kurset!

Well done! I would like to complete four trees: French, Esperanto, German, and Polish. How long did it take you to complete a tree, on average?

It took me 3 months for my Danish tree, 4 months for my Irish tree, 6 months for my Portuguese tree, and 9 months for my Spanish tree (but I was focusing on other languages instead of Spanish). I would say it took me about 3½ to 4 months to complete a tree. Good luck with your trees, especially French, I am terrible with that language.

Good job! I too just finished Danish tree a couple weeks ago, and really enjoyed it, even though, as you point out, it's not a terribly valuable language for us to learn as virtually all Danes already speak English quite well. It was challenging, but fun, too, and as you say, the volunteer team did an excellent job of making it as entertaining as possible.

I am also waiting for the Welsh tree, my grandfather and his parents spoke it. I am currently deciding on which Nordic language to choose from. With Danish did you find much media you could work with? Congratulations!

I chose Danish specifically because it was said that it was the most difficult language of the 3 provided. I started to watch certain people on YouTube who spoke Danish. There weren't as many as there would be for Swedish, but it's enough if you wanted to hear dialogue from natives.

Congrats. :)

I finished the English to French tree, and I am half way done the reserve tree.

I plan to do the Danish tree next. I have Danish family members so I am familiar with how the language sounds. I also know how to say some very (eye roll) things that my grandfather taught me:

Hello my bare bottom... If you play with fire, you'll pee in bed ... Dishwasher...and... Thank you for the food

  • Well at least one of those things might have some use.

Congrats! In the meantime, why not dive into a Slavic language? Like Russian? (Yes, I'm biased.)

I tried to start the Russian tree, but i just found it too hard for me. It is probably the hardest language for me right after French.

Any specific thing that's giving you difficulty? I can help. ;-). Perhaps maybe knock it down a notch to German? Polish is coming pretty soon.
