The agony of waiting for new courses

I'm basically looking for sympathy; has anyone else here experienced the pain of waiting for a new course to come up, one that you're very eager to do? I'm really feeling it with Polish right now. You check it and it's 86%, two weeks later it suddenly went to 93%, anguish continues. You watch other courses pop up when your course is in the 80s, only for this new course to catch fully up as yours moves nowhere (I hate you and your progress, Welsh). Right now it's on 100%, and my daily check is becoming a truly emotional part of the day. This has been going on for months, to the stage where I feel I'm running out of English words to describe the tantalising-ness of it all.

Try to learn to be patient. Its a pity that Duolingo does not do a course on patience. It reminds me of a prayer I used to see on signs at work. 'Oh Lord, give me patience. And give it to me NOW!'

I think the patience is killing us. We wait and wait and we know that Duolingo is going to release it. But we just don't know when ! So we check the incubator hoping to see 29 instead of 30. I have no motivation to learn polish but I am still excited to its release. That's the Duolingo spirit.

Last I heard, the course is finished, but they're just going through it to make sure they have any mistakes ironed out. I'd prefer a course with fewer mistakes than one that's been rushed out.

The Russian course caused a great deal of turmoil for that exact reason - except there were nearly 2 months of delays with the course at 99%, and "ready" in 4 days. But every day, that release date got pushed back, and back, and back... And every day, 3 or 4 people would post on the Discussion Board, whining about the Russian course, "Is it ever going to come out!" (That was not at all helpful, by the way. If you would have read 5 posts down, you would have seen someone else being down-voted for the exact same thing.)

But eventually, it was released! Like Graduation day, or Christmas morning - for so long it felt like it would never come. The rest of the courses will follow suit. Just be patient, and stay involved with your current language project(s).

From May through Sept I watched the start date for Hungarian move... again and again... always two weeks away... Hungarian is still not ready. In the summer I started Turkish and now I don't even think I have time for Hungarian :-D

I've checked the Polish course like four times a day since it has reached 100%, I can't wait for it to be released. But I agree with the comments about wanting a good quality course if what they are doing right now is going through and double checking everything.

I definitely know what you mean. I was lucky in that I can put off Hungarian for a year or two, do something else in the meantime. Today the site shows that Hungarian's estimated launch date is 3 days ago :-D

The progress bar for Welsh doesn't represent what the Welsh team says their progress is. The Welsh team says that they're around 50%-ish of the way there, but I haven't checked on it in a while.

The wait for Hebrew is agonizing.... Meanwhile I've been trying to learn a little on my own, but nothing can come close to Duo's easy, simple, and streamlined system. I'm hoping and praying that it will be released near the projected date! And Yiddish.....who knows when it will be released. Hopefully before 2017!

Me too!! It seems like an awesome language to learn since it's do old, it's the language of the Jews and it's about the only language that has been revived at a big scale. :)

The anticipation can be very difficult!

On the one hand, I am focusing solely on Spanish right now because I am determined to actually become semi-fluent in a language instead of just toying around.

On the other hand, I have been with Duolingo since Portuguese and Italian were still in beta (and have reset several courses since), and I love hearing all the new announcements. In the meantime, I have been anxiously awaiting Polish since it was announced and I eagerly await announcements for English->Finnish and English->Japanese.

Duolingo is amazing and I tell all my friends about it constantly, but it's still hard to wait for new languages! It's just so exciting!

That probably just means they have added new words but no associated sentences yet. So even if the percentage decreases, that means that the completeness of the course increases.
