It was recommended by the youth pastor at my church, to learn a few words in Spanish in preparation for a missions trip to Mexico. Somehow I got a bit carried away and went past "a few words"...

I did an internet search for resources for learning Esperanto. The Duolingo course is one of the best things that ever happened to that language.

Honestly just stick with it. "Strengthen skills" is your friend. It's not a race to finish the tree (after 2 years of work, I won't finish for another 6 months) - it's making sure you really know what you're studying.

For me at first it was the hardest out of the languages in which I have a high level.

For me it got a lot easier after I figured out usage of de, ce/cet/celle/ces, and word order in questions. 2 years in and I still get noun gender wrong in french more often than in german.

If you're confused, reach out on the forums or online. At the end of the day if you throw enough hours into it you'll figure it out.

Здравей! Да ти кажа честно, единственото нещо освен Duolingo което ползвам е от време на време на french.about.com но това е защото нямам френска граматика. Също wiktionary.com е страхотен особено ако използваш анклийската версия.

(Regarding what other tools I use for learning french)

Wiktionary.com is great and I use french.about.com as a grammar reference because I don't have a grammar book.

A homeschooled friend whose parents had her use Duolingo for Spanish knew I had been wanting to learn Italian, and recommended it to me, letting me try out her app before I downloaded it for myself about 10 minutes later.

I first visited the site when I heard they were working on Klingon. Then I discovered that Esperanto was just about to be released in beta! I had done some research on Esperanto in the past and wanted to learn it, so I stuck around.

2 years ago, the summer before 8th grade, I wanted to find a way to get ahead of my French class, since 8th grade is the year you start learning a foreign language. I just searched the App Store learn a language for free, and duolingo came up!

Now I keep getting tempted to start other languages, but I have to control myself and stick to German and French!

My friend got the app because he thought it was a game (Cause he plays all those games on the top few app store apps), and he's like,"How do you learn this stuff? It's so hard!" He deleted the app :P
