HOW DO YOU SHORTCUT SKILLS?

I did Spanish in the past and thought I may as well continue it when i found this AMAZING website but I am doing all my skills again...

I see on the activity stream that people sometimes shortcut skills but I don't know how to.

When you down your tree, you will little yellow buttons with a lock symbol on them saying "Test out of (whatever number)skills". Click those, and pass the test. That's a shortcut. But... you don't earn any lingots.

Oh no, I know English. English is my native language. I am doing a reverse course, from German to English. BTW, I thought English was your native language.

If you want to learn how to shortcut out of one skill, click on it and on the right-hand side you'll see a little yellow button saying "Test out".

I was in the same situation as you with French a while back, but here's my advice:

Don't skip any lessons.

Yeah, you might know the grammar there. Heck, you might know it. There could be a hole somewhere.

You'll probably lack a lot of the vocabulary though, so you'll only shoot yourself in the foot by skipping lessons.

Also, if you skip lessons, you could find a whole bunch of lessons degilding all at once later on, so you're just pushing the time you'd spend on those lessons into the future.

If you feel the current set of lessons are too basic based on your prior knowledge of the language, you can skip those quickly and move on to newer content. The help article below explains the options.
