Enjoy the "Welsh will last forever" anthem while we wait: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUbJwikfUz0

(I may have fallen passionately in love with Welsh in Caernarfon a few years back.) That reminds me... do we know if it's going to be North or South Welsh?

I -think- it will be north mainly judging from the facebook page but I could be wrong and you'd do better asking somebody actually working on it.

I think I read somewhere that it will include both and have the questions accept either form in answers (e.g. dach chi or dych chi, ble vs lle). Unless they're using Cyraeg Byw?

I suppose the choice of audio will be the most critical part of that.

Which one would be the most standard? Or the most widely spread?

Neither is more standard. Writers tend to use a form close to how they speak (in which case I think Northern Welsh is a bit more common in contemporary literature, but I'd need a native to confirm that). There was an attempt at creating a "standard" about 50 years ago called "Cymraeg Byw", but it's not really much like how anyone speaks.

As for widespread - from memory Southern Welsh I think has more speakers, but the Northern Welsh areas are much more-strongly Welsh speaking, if that makes sense.

As in, the communities where the majority of inhabitants speak Welsh (Anglesey etc) are mainly in the north.

But either form is more or less understood everywhere... I guess like comparing UK English vs US English would be if individual English varieties spelled their own writings more like how they spoke.
