Think about WHY you want to learn Spanish. Why is it important to you? What makes it matter? Why will it make a difference to your life? Right the reasons down. Think about that often. Set a minimum you have to do EVERY day--I suggest you keep it low. It makes your resistance to practicing far lower. Eg 10 XP (one lesson, or a couple of revised lessons that you've done) Tie your session to something you do EVERY day - Eg Do a quick session while you have your morning coffee, while you're on the train (if you use the app), after you have dinner etc. This makes practicing easier to remember - it becomes automatic. Use an end of day reminder. EG: Stick a dot sticker on your bathroom mirror so that when you brush your teeth at night it should work as a prompt that you haven't done your session yet (that's if you ignored the message prompt from duo lingo!). Build on small successes. By that I mean, if you're finding it difficult to start your session, do one or two EASY-for-you things that you feel good about completing. THEN you're more likely to go to your duo session with a positive mindset about tackling something you're resistant about. EG: Drink a glass of water (if you're trying to remember to hydrate), run around the block (if you find that easy), have a shower, eat something you know will benefit you (who doesn't feel better after eating something they enjoy and know is good for them?)--you'll know what works for you. Finally, try to find something to reward yourself with when you've finished for the day and have met your target - find something linked to Spanish that you enjoy. Following the Barcelona football team. Or reading Spanish news websites. Or reading about places in Spain you want to visit - and their history. Or listening to Spanish music. A thing that interests YOU.

For me, the hardest part of doing language study is getting started. I make myself start whatever DL or Memrise thing I'm doing and it's so much easier from there.

So close! Yo como pan. El perro come pan. TĂș comes pan? Anytime you have a bit of time do a lesson. Redo the lessons when you don't remember them.

Pick a time of day that you think will be free for this and set a daily alarm to do it. If you need to postpone it to later in the day, be sure to not let yourself off the hook until you set a special alarm to make up the time.

Buy the timed practice and use it on the very first level. It will be very easy and you can do it over and over and still get 20 xp for each repetition. You will rack up mucho xp and will start to level up quickly.

Do at least one xp each day in order to keep your streak alive. Soon you will grow attached to your streak and carefully cultivate it.
