Christmas carols as Gaeilge?
I don't know how to say "Christmas carols" in Irish, so part of the title is in English, but regardless, the question is still the same - Who here knows of any Christmas carols, be they native to the Irish language or translations of English ones?
Last year alexinireland put up this post:
It lists some carols, links to his Christmas Memrise course and summarizes holiday customs.
Don't miss Cuireadh do Mhuire Invitation to Mary.
A year later I find it's still a favorite of mine.
And here are the LYRICS with translation.
Last year I had linked to an audio file of the poet himself reading it, but this year I see it's been monetized. :D :D :D
In terms of recordings, Mary McLaughlin also has an album of translated ones, it seems: http://www.amazon.com/A-Gaelic-Christmas-Mary-McLaughlin/dp/B002SCQSSQ
For my money, (Loreena McKennitt's rendition of) The Wexford Carol is still my favorite Christmas carol of all time.
