The Top Bar on Duolingo
Okay, am I the only one that this bothers? It is clear, and so when I am scrolling through comments on the discussion forums, I can like kinda see the comments above that. Can someone give a valid reason why this bar is clear?
It's just one of the many different effects that the programmers of Duolingo decided to add. It would be like asking, "Why did Duolingo choose a green owl instead of a purple one?". I'm just saying that the Duolingo designer added that in just because. I'm not sure there is a real reason why it's like that; it's just the designer's preference.
The grey background has a reason, actually. Duolingo tried out a white background but Duolingo received a ton of feedback that it made the website too bright and it was hurting people's eyes. So Duolingo dimmed it a bit. :)
Cool fact! Thanks for that fun information! Of course, I was just using it as an example, but good point!
Can you post a screenshot so folks can understand what you're seeing? I'm lost.
I knoooow (obviously it's on purpose) but is there a reason for this??
uhmm. so that it looks prettier? you see that kind of thing on many sites, it's clearly a trend in webdesign nowadays. no further reason needed.
Hahahhaha. Well, it doesn't look prettier to me, it's actually incredibly annoying. It is a minor thing though, so I'll probably just have to deal with it.
I just notice the bar is transparent and came to the discussion forum to see if it was new and if any other people hated it. I hate fake transparency in UIs, web pages, etc. I'm using a Chromebook now instead of my old CRT monitors which might make it more visible.
You are not alone in not liking transparency.
