Since ученица is female, wouldn't "schoolgirl" also be appropriate translation?

What's the difference between ученица and студентка?

As I understand: ученица: a girl who attends school (a "pupil" in British English) студентка: a student at university

Didn't know they distinguished between the two, that's interesting.

Yes, we do. This is similar to German where Student/Studentin refer exclusively to university students.

Report it. The correspondence between this/that and эта/та is a bit fuzzy and context-dependent.
