I tried to watch a french movie but cudnt understand a single word they said. i can read and write francais.any tips for improving listening skills

I'm not sure if it is good advice and I have only done it a few times ,but with a video player like VLC (and probably others) you can slow a video/sound file down as much as you want to. Even a little slower can make deciphering words much easier. It might be counter productive. I fear using the slow playback option on duolingo may also be a bit counterproductive if your goal is to decipher speech in real time. I no longer experiment with slowing down audio in VLC for the simple reason I do not think I know enough Spanish to bother with trying to listen to media.
