Any news on Croatian

Hi I've been waiting around 2 years for a Croatian course now, it used to do really well in polls and ive seen a lot of support for it. WHen you type Croatian you get about 1746 results.

We've now added some really obscure languages to the incubator which is cool like Welsh and Swahili, but still no Croatian.

The how to suggest a language thread doesn't give any actual info on how to suggest a language but it does mention there is a list of languages they want to add. Would it be possible to make this list available and even have dates on when they expect to be added to the incubator. I know many Croatian volunteers on here who want to add to the language, and it is such a beautiful language, and as well as speaking to millions of Croats, you can also speak to millions of Serbs, Bosnians and Montenegrins.

So please, any news on when we will get this language in the incubator.

A few things - Welsh and Swahili aren't obscure languages (especially in comparison to things like conlangs). Also the only way to get a new language in the process of being hosted (for lack of a better word) on DuoLingo is for native/expert (think C2 in the CEFR) speakers to apply to create a course. You can find more about the process here.

As can easily be seen, all of the wishing, attempts at creating persuasive threads and polls, and willing in the world isn't going to get a language supported if there isn't a group of people qualified to actually create said course. Never mind that creating a course also takes a lot of time all of which is volunteer based (though would likely look very good on a resume/CV).

I know people who have applied and heard nothing back. Duo doesn't even have it on its list of ones it prompts you to apply for, you have to apply under "Other", but it does have obscure ones on the list like Sindarin and Dothraki.

It'd just be nice to have an update you know. I love Duo, and it's so great that these people both contributors work hard, and many for free, but I don't know why they have to work shrouded in secrecy is all.

I want to point out that linguists consider those four to all be the same language, so the course would probably need to be broad enough to at least touch on all 4 standardized dialects. Structuring such a course will be complex at best.
