das Mädchen vs. die Mädchen
I've seen both used, but are both correct? And what's the difference? I've been marked correct in some instances, but incorrect in others.
The die, in this case, shows plurality. "Das Mädchen" means the girl, where "Die Mädchen" means the girls.
Why is the plural feminine while the singular is neutral? Should both be feminine?
There´s no feminine plural or masculine plural, plural is neutral.
Das Madchen - The Girl Die Madchen - The girls
Der Mann - The man Die Manner - The men
Die is the femine noun in singular, but also the neutral noun in plural.
