Don't worry about the Down Votes

when you see that you get a down vote on your post does that make you feel bad (it does for me at least) well that little Negative number really doesn't mean anything what so ever its less than 10 people Down voting out of the hundreds (probably thousands) of people on Duolingo, not to mention there are people who Down vote just to make someone feel upset, and not really dislike the post also some people just look at a post title and say something like "I bet its a stupid post" to them selves or something like that but regardless a down vote isn't much its just someone saying they don't particularly like whatever it is that you posted

Actually, Duolingo has over 100 million users. ;)

Good advice...the only thing I would add is that downvoting is actually quite a useful resource -- it only becomes a bad thing when people misuse it.

A small fraction of those users are on the site; most are on the app. Even less people actively go on the forums.

There are also a lot of trolls out there who down vote just for the fun of it, so don't let them get to you. Don't listen to them, you are so much more than that. Stay Alive my friends. |-/

Also, downvote need not mean "I hate you" or "that was stupid" -- it could simply mean "that doesn't belong here".

i agree but down votes can be helpful if nobody is talking down or up votes are talking in their own way

Downvoting reminds me of a line in the Duolingo Spanish course:

Democracy is the tyranny of the majority.
