It would be fascinating, the language of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. An Indo-European language too so not too unusual for us familiar with English. The script is similar to Arabic and so beautiful. Yes please I would love to :)!

I would like to do some lessons if I ever get the chance to go on holiday in Iran. I've heard nothing but great things about the country from people who have already visited it.

Plus, Persian would be interesting to compare to languages in other branches of the Indo-European family.

Yes! Btw do you have the same alphabet as us Arabs? Do you use the same exact letters and pronounciations? I have been wondering, because I was thinking that you did not use it the same exact way.

Nope! The Persian alphabet is slightly different than the Arabic alphabet because the two languages have pretty different sounds. So Persian has extra letters like گ ،پ ،ژ ،and چ. Some letters are also written or pronounced differently, for example ص and س are pronounced he same in Persian, but different in Arabic. They're very similar, but do have notable differences.

Mamnoon! Yes I thought that I have seen some letters we don't use in Arabic. And very interesting fact about س and ص because when we speak in arabic, I can clearly hear the difference! Do you know the pronounciations of the four letters you wrote?

Yep! In the order they appear, they're ʒ, p, g, and tʃ, which are all sounds that are non-native to Arabic. There are also a few small differences, like when you write ی at the end of a word, you don't include the dots, when you write ه at the end, you don't either (even if it's supposed to be a ta marbuta), and when you write كـ at the end of a word, you don't include the flourish like in Arabic.

There are actually a lot of letters in Persian that are pronounce the same. Since Persian doesn't distinguish between "emphatic" and "non-emphatic" consonants like Arabic does, there are a lot of doublets like س and ص (which are also pronounced the same as ﺙ).

Is Persian the same as Farsi? I'm a native Tajik speaker and I know that Farsi is the root language of Tajik, if it is the same thing, I would love to be able to learn the roots of my native tongue!

Tajik and Farsi are the same language. You just need to learn the alphabet.

If so, I think you already know your roots, the only thing you'll probably learn from Farsi is how to write in Arabic script lol

It is interesting to know There is no grammatical gender in Persian language. (for example we have "He" and "She" in English , "Maskulinum"(r) , "Neutrum"(s) and "Femininume"(e) in German and "مونث" and "مذکر" in Arabic! But Persians call a woman as they call a man and Everybody are equal in this language)

Persian is a pluricentric language and its grammar is similar to that of many contemporary European languages.(Richard Davis, "Persian" in Josef W. Meri, Jere L. Bacharach, "Medieval Islamic Civilization", Taylor & Francis, 2006. pp. 602–603. "The grammar of New Persian is similar to many contemporary European languages."Similarly, the core vocabulary of Persian continued to be derived from Pahlavi.)

And you can also read more about Persian on the web.
