Actually it is not funny :'- (
I meant the other famous German movies, not about the war.

I have heard that "Good Bye, Lenin!" is good, but I haven't seen it yet. If you watch it, tell us what you think about it.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Iruxka

I only heard aboit this film too, and saw good reviews on it. I'm just planning to watch it soon.

I recommend "Das Leben der Anderen" (eng: "The Lives of Others", rus: "Жизнь других").

"Good Bye, Lenin!" - хороший фильм. Hope you've had the chance to see it by now.

Definitely recommend it. Other German movie which I enjoyed was: 'Das Weisse Band - Eine deutsche Kindergeschichte'. Oh and absolutely delightful comedy: 'Toni Erdmann'.

German movies. Wink, wink ;)

I thought "German film" was colloquial in Russia for pornography? :v

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Zombie499410

I have seen the word "Германский" being used. How is that word different from "немецкий"?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/DoD54

second one is for all language related things

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Zombie499410

Is it like the difference between российский and русский?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/DoD54

I would go insane if I do that

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/19aloni

i'm german but german movies suck D:

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/BenYoung84

You could do much worse.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/private_Dramba

On this branch disgusting Russian voice acting. СмотрИте = watch, смОтрите = you are watching

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/servolock

Shouldn't "Only look at German movies" be accepted too?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/JanisaChatte

No. That's incorrect English. In English, you "watch" movies.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/servolock

I would be interested to know in what way it is incorrect. But, in any case, we look at TV, we look at too much TV, we look at programs on TV and look at movies on TV. At least in this context, "look at" and "watch" are synonymous, and commonly used.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Theron126

I've never heard anyone say they "looked at" a movie. Unless they looked at it on Amazon and thought about buying it. If they actually saw it from beginning to end, I've never heard anything else except "watched".

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Rekty

Nobody uses "to look" in that context. You just learned the word wrong.

Watching a movie, watching tv, that's how you say it.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/James122785

I do hear people say "looked at" a movie, but it comes across as pompous.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Rekty

It is just wrong. Native do make mistakes!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/KH40bu

I don't know where it comes across as pompous, it comes across as the opposite in American English. Quite simple in fact.. (no offense, just a note) to say "looked at a show". In Chicago, for example it's typical to say "we went to a show" meaning the movie theater. You could easily hear "we looked at a show" . The last thing people would think of is pompous.
