Chinese New Year - Bonus Skill?

<h1>Welcome</h1>

So I was looking into Duolingo's scripts and images a couple weeks ago (via Inspect Element), and I saw something interesting! There was a page with all of Duolingo's Images of Skill, and I noticed an odd one. It's a cool looking 'skill', which I wanted to show you, it looks like this;

Chinese New Year?

This, I believe, was available for the English for Chinese speakers course last year.

It would be cool to learn words like Fireworks, Dragon, and Lantern.

If you are questioning why I found this, I'm into programming and coding and I wanted to see how Duolingo gets these images.

Now, I think this is a previous secret skill, if not, well then there is a hint for you! Here are all of the 'secret skills' that I can recall;

Idioms and Proverbs

Flirting

Christmas

These are named, in order

  • skill-icon-image skill-icon-63

  • skill-icon-image skill-icon-64

  • skill-icon-image skill-icon-65

  • skill-icon-image skill-icon-66 Is the 'Balloon-Like' (Chinese Lantern) one.

And if you are asking what all the images of skills are, here are them for you!

Some Words + Sentences:

I will use German

  • Dragon = Lindwurm, Drache, Drachen, Wyvern

  • Lantern = (Chinesische) Laterne

  • Fireworks = Feuerwerkskörper, Feuerwerk

  • The dragons breathe fire = Die Drachen spucken Feuer.

  • I do not know where the lanterns go = Ich weiß nicht, wohin die Laternen gehen.

  • Where did you buy those fireworks? = Wo hast du diese Feuerwerkskörper gekauft?

P.S. This is from an earlier post I made about this. This one here is more updated and now newer users or people who did not see the first one can see.

I should do Inspect Element more. i've seen people make screenshots of "wishlist" courses using it.

Also, your assumption seems well-founded. Is it used on any of the Chinese speaker courses?

If it's seasonal, like the Christmas skill, it will probably only become available some time in January,

Thanks for the information! I just completed the Christmas Skill (for French) and am excited for a new one.

You have a correction, you inter-changed the Flirting and Idioms and Proverbs with their pictures.

Ah. Thank you, for I did not notice. I thought that the words would be labeled above the words, but then I forgot about Christmas.

It would be very cool to have a Chinese New Year Skill!

Just a few corrections in your German translation, if you don't mind:

Die Drachen spucken Feuer.

Ich weiß nicht, wo die Laternen hingehen. Or: Ich weiß nicht, wohin die Laternen gehen.

Wo hast du diese Feuerwerkskörper gekauft?

Edit: Also Wyvern might be a better translation for Lindwurm. Dragons and wyverns are a bit different ;)
