Ĉu vi povas tion skribi en Esperanto aŭ la anglan? Mi ne scias la hispanan tre bone :)
I saw that video a few days ago. Mia denaska lingvo estas la anglan. I like to practice my Spanish :)
Interesting to think about Dr. Zamenhof's work and the impact its had across the world. It's wonderful to see! May it continue to prosper and grow =)
Does William Shatner really speak Esperanto? Thanks for the video.
The rest of the actors weren't though, and neither were the writers, and so tragically Incubus is a mess.
I don't think Shatner can claim to be fluent in Esperanto.
When I learned Esperanto, there were rumors that such a film existed. There was some evidence, but it a lot like Bigfoot. Many people questioned whether the film really existed. Then it surfaced - a lone copy with French subtitles. It created quite a stir. The Esperantists were beside themselves and even the mainstream media was talking about Esperanto.
I disagree with DaveAusAmerika - my impression is that the script is not bad. The pronunciation is terrible. Shatner pronounces Esperanto like he's still a Canadian grammar school student learning French. I hated the movie at first, but it has really grown on me.
When the film was re-released, The Daily Show did a segment on it (which I probably still have on VHS somewhere). It was absolutely hysterical. The host even learned some Esperanto for the segment, which included interviews in Esperanto with a "focus group" of grey-haired west-coast Esperantists. Shatner shows of his knowledge of Esperanto (which is edited to begin at the most inappropriate moment) and while he managed to mutter something which sounds like Esperanto, it included made up words and was not a complete sentence. Funny stuff.
So no, Shatner is not fluent, even though he was in a film that was in Esperanto.
