duolingo doesn't accept 'pretty dress'... wanted to know if that is a mistake? does piekny also translate to 'pretty'?

"pretty" and "beautiful" are not the same thing, "beautiful" is without a doubt stronger. So is "piękny" compared to "ładny".

Pretty! even beautiful, but GORGEOUS???? COME ON!

Not the most probable option, but well, it's closer to "piękną" than "pretty" is.

"pretty" is "ładną".

The trouble is that in English one would almost always say "a pretty dress", but "a beautiful gown" for an evening gown.

What would be the best translation for "Lovely"

Why "purchasing" is not accepted here?

Because people rarely use it ;) Sure, added now.

Which is stronger piekna or ladna? Which should one use for pretty and which for beautiful?

Sorry! I have now your read your explanation that piekna is stronger

Is "nice" really as strong as "beautiful"? I'd say that it would be "ładna sukienka", not "piękna"... so closer to "pretty".
