"I get the feeling that he doesn't trust us" should probably be right, too, since it's the way many Americans say it.
I have the feeling... I know it's a different word but isn't that the normal way to express it in English?
Why not: 'My impression is that he does not trust us' . As an English person I would always say that rather than 'I have the impression'
