Lost My Streak!

Sorry to gripe, but I'm a little frustrated. I've been sick the past few days. I believe that speaking the language is important to learning it, but my coughing has prevented that. So, I opted to use my lingots to freeze my 100+ day streak for a couple of days until I recover. I froze it yesterday, and the store still says that the freeze is equipped, but my streak is gone! What did I do wrong? Is it a glitch? I know a streak's not as valuable as learning a new language, but I was still proud of it.

I think the streak freeze only works for one day, not two :/

Streak Freeze

Streak Freeze allows your streak to remain in place for one full day of inactivity.

True, but I paid for the freeze each day. Is there a set limit or something?

Man, that stinks. It would be cool if there were a three day streak freeze in the store, just for a lot more lingots. It would make sick days freeze up.

That would defeat the purpose of having a streak though. If we could just take regular breaks, it wouldn't be a streak. The streak is important as a learning device. Higher streaks do come with higher status, but, without actually keeping up a streak users would be left with something that just said "I had lingots to spend to make this number go higher" rather than "I've been consistently dedicated time to bettering my skills." A one day streak freeze makes sense in that it gives someone 24 hours to find a new internet connection if their's went down. It's like an emergency first aid kit, good for a rare scrape but inadequate for surgery.

What if they are in surgery, and can't practice duolingo? xD

Or in countries (actually using what they are learning) with crappy connectivity. I kept mine going by paying some ridiculous data rates, but in retrospect, next time I probably won't. Caught up in it all, I ended up paying real dollars for nothing. I too would like to see a freeze available for a bit longer.
