Tip about shadow-banning from Usagiboy7
"I just want to explain further how the system works, because there are balances built in to prevent abuse. A very select few moderators have the ability to apply a temporary ban."
"Only a temporary ban.
"Any bans that become permanent are put into place by staff. All temporary bans are reviewed by staff, who are very thorough. If staff disagree with a temporary ban, they reinstate the account.
"So all bans that have taken place and stuck have been approved by staff. If staff disagree with a temporary ban, that moderator is contacted and the situation reviewed with them.
"If a moderator is found to be abusing their ability, they are stripped of their ring."
Hope this helped.
Summary: All bans that stick are staff bans. If you see moderator abuse happening, please send it to staff at Abuse@duolingo.com right away. Moderators do not receive nor process those emails. Staff have a vested interest in preventing abuse. It would negatively affect their business.
Had Usagi wanted that on the boards I imagine it would have been posted to the boards in the first place.
It was an activity stream event, but I managed to get the link:
[Link removed to remain respectful]
If those who participated in that stream convo give me permission here, I will re add it.
OK, I have a question and a very true statement.
- The question: How do you get the links to the "events"? TELL ME YOUR SECRET. (XD lol)
- The very true statement: That is awesome.
Sorry to hear that. i haven't used it very often, anyways. Maybe you can try it another time.
Is this your main account or your "drop" account? ;). I asked because your post peeked my curiosity.
