Feeling proud - my entire tree is gold - never thought I would achieve it. Fluency still a pathetic 17% though!
Congrats. It just goes to show learning is never done and over with. It's a life long journey. Keep practicing :)
Yes. I am trying to garner support so Duolingo will add Conversations as an activity (see https://www.duolingo.com/comment/12403125 and upvote if you like it). That should take us beyond the "bits and pieces" we learn. Outside of here, I would also recommend that one download a few free children's ebooks off of Amazon or Project Gutenberg as a way of improving reading and comprehension.
That's really cool. I see you have practiced lots already, going by your experience points. I hope you discover material that both challenges and inspires you to further your learning.
Regarding upvotes, it's the "up" and "down" gray arrows that show up next to the count (of up/down votes) in comments (followed by Reply, Give Lingots and so on). You click the up one to upvote and approve/show your support. For eg: I upvoted your first response to my comment in this thread. You'll notice there is a "1" and then the two up and down gray arrows there. Hope that helps.
Oh, and thank you for the generous offering of lingots as well. Merry Christmas to you.
How do they your calculate fluency percent? I haven't finished the tree yet but my fluency is 42%. It doesn't seem right to me.
I'm guessing it's just a crude calculation based on how many answers you get right. When I started, my fluency was about 25%, presumably because it was based on a tiny chunk of vocab/grammar, some of which I already knew. As I've progressed through the tree, and had to learn more and more stuff, it's steadily decreased! I'm envious of 42%!
