Am I doing OK so far?

Hi guys! I am on Level 6 in Spanish and level 5 in French. I have been on Duolingo for around a week now. Is this normal? Should I pick up the pace? Thanks!

Don`t worry about what others do. Go at your own pace. You are doing fine.

You should just go at whatever pace you feel comfortable with.

You should just go with whatever pace you feel comfortable with and what your schedule allows. For me, it's totally normal to be around Level 5 or 6 in a week.....I'm working on my reverse Spanish tree now (so instead of learning Spanish from English which I already did, I'm learning English from Spanish) and I've only been working on it for a little over a week and I'm on Level 5.

The only thing that matters is if you feel you're learning. That's the point, everything else is just to help you accomplish that goal :)

like many or all of the rest have previously mentioned - go at a pace that you are learning. If going faster helps you learn then by all means pick up the pace. But this is in no way a race to see who finishes first. My wife and I started around the same and I am ahead of her points and level wise, but we both are learning at the same rate and are able to communicate with one another, albeit very rudimentary.

its hard to say whether you're above or below average but I can say that you're way further than I was in my first week. since I have no pressure I'm taking my time, I'm going very slow, it's been over 2 years and I'm just now nearing the end of my tree. just do what's best for you :)

The best advice I can give is to try and do a bit every day and stay consistent. If you try and go too fast you will burn out, retain less and lose motivation. I am trying to use the streak to motivate me to keep persevering. Good luck!

Keep in mind in the future if it seems like your progress slows down it's because it takes more XP to level up the further you get. So you'll level up more slowly even if you keep at the pace you're at. And yes, you are doing fine. But I think everyone else covered that pretty well. :)

Yes! I'm pretty sure that you're doing better than I was a week in! Keep up the good work!

What others have said, go at your own pace. For me, I am realizing I can't do two languages at once (I don't know how some people do so many languages) so I am going to finish my Italian tree before focusing on Polish.

You seem good- that's probably better than what I did on MY first week :)
