"Fioletowa" sounds like it comes from "violet", only that the first letter became devoiced. Can this word refer to the colour "violet"?

I meant #C71585= Purpura (lata 1930) Name and number from linked above wiki. Polish dictionary says it is dark red with a "fioletowy" hue.
