Pause time while reporting a mistake - timed practice

Hi,

could you please pause the time as soon as i hit the "report a problem" button in timed practice? I would appreciate that very much.

I often report mistakes in a beta language course and nearly get a heart attack afterwards because the time keeps on ticking and I only have about 3 seconds for the following translation of a Thomas Mann sentence.

Thanks a lot.

I seem to recall this being suggested (and ignored) multiple times over the past year/year and a half. It certainly should be implemented, though - as should a clock pause for reading the discussion pertaining to the particular exercise.

Yep that would be good. Sometimes when I start to comment on report a problem, the time runs out and the partial comment disappears - so the whole thing is of no use - you don't get the comment and I lose out ... so what is the use of trying to help (except that I would like to improve the system - I am not talking about beta ... just in normal play!

Yes I agree!!!!!! I have just come across a Spanish to English translation which says 'he has young and I am old' - clearly a mistake in English as well as the translation. But before I finished reporting it .... time was up and the reporting page was gone!

What a pity when one wants to help improve the translations, this kind of stupid operation of the program prevents one from doing so!

There must be thousands of such instances where corrections are simply not recorded because the timer timed out before one could submit it. Even if the timer is not stopped, if pressing the 'report a mistake' button just holds that screen until it is accepted (or cancelled) it would at least enable one to help improve this fantastic program.

From what I have read, there have been multiple requests to have this changed, they all seem to fall on deaf ears.

What a pity - when the rest of the program is so good!!

Duo is going to give some Christmas updates. Judging by the hints, one seems to be some kind of change/new version of practice. Could be this.

there is something on the blog and twitter-account of Duolingo where they say that they are going to do something about this since it was sugested so much, not the same but you get something red on the bar upstairs if you are learning (which is normally green if you did it right), take a look :) !
