Is anyone else disturbed by the "You're alone" statement in the friends section?
I don't like to be reminded that I'm alone every day , particularly when I just went through a devastating breakup.
I see your point of view. If I find the right person to speak to, I will take the opportunity to express your point of view.
There is no need to 'friend' anyone here. It can be useful however - to follow people who makes interesting comments about the language you are learning. Then when you go to your 'Activity' button, it will show their recent activity.
For now, please know you are 'NOT ALONE', and we welcome you in our community of language learning.
Wishing you all the best of wonderful opportunities in real life and discoveries in language learning, in the year to come.
Edited, I have also sent you a few lingots as a gift, to say - thanks for being part of our community.
Alanorama, I was mildly disturbed when I first began on this site to see "You're alone". Although I knew it was to encourage communication or even competition, some days I had to not look at those words because they evoked sad feelings. I find the community on this site, for the most part, are friendly and encouraging. I hope you are encouraged people have responded to you and wish you well. Despite your loss through your recent breakup, I hope you will continue with learning new languages.
