Duolingo "can't connect"

My wife has been using the Duolingo app for a long time, but since she updated to IOS 9.2 she keeps getting "Could not connect to Duolingo. Try starting the session again" messages. This happens whether she tries to do a new lesson or go back to refresh. I am on the same network (our home wifi) with my own login, but on IOS 8 and have no issues.

Is there a problem with IOS 9.2 being incompatible with the Duolingo app?

I found this discussion because suddenly this problem has begun for me — three years after this was originally posted. It has worked fine for the last six months and all of a sudden this problem begins to occur nearly every time I try to launch a lesson. By the way, I am using an iPhone. The app is up to date.

I'm strugging with this today - years later! I definitely have the internet but it says I do not. I have signed out and now to add insult to injury it won't let me sign back in. Very frustrating.

It has improved since my post. My problem lasted for a week or two. It was either resolved by a subsequent update that Duolingo later released or it is located in a particular section of lessons that I have now passed through. It will still display the "no Internet connection" message or lag a little bit sometimes when loading but I no longer experience the frequent occurrences or long, long waits for loading I was experiencing when I posted my comment about a month ago.

(It didn't work for me, but just to make sure, do you know how to force quit/abort an iPhone app to clear it from memory? Even if it doesn't work for this, it can be helpful.)

I am using iOS 9.2 and the latest version of the app and it is working fine. Perhaps you are using an older version of the app, but try downloading the app again, it may just clear up the problem.

I'm still using IOS 7 and having the same problem. 'Duolingo is not able to connect. Try .....new session.'

It will still not reconnect.

I'm having a similar problem today it started taking forever to load then after few minutes of trying it started telling me it couldn't connect or couldn't swap languages so I uninstalled and reinstalled and now I can't even login on the app even though I'm definitely connected to the Internet and I have been able to log on on the website. It's really frustrating as I use this app for several hours a day. Anyone got any ideas?

Ive got the same issue now. :( the laptop version is fine, but - while i can log in and out - the app isnt cooperating.
