Yes, exactly what you're thinking! I have finally finished my Swedish tree! It took me seven long months to accomplish this great deed, but it is really worth the effort. Of course, it wouldn't be possible without those who helped me throughout these months and those who made the course what it is today. Therefore I'd like to thank them, especially the moderators. Obviously I'm not fluent in Swedish yet, but if it wasn't for the tree, I wouldn't be able to write this text, let alone get to know a whole new world (the Swedish culture and languages in general). Now I will continue my studies outside Duolingo, with books and hopefully real conversations. But I'm not done yet with the tree, as it is still not entirely golden! Anyways, the next challenge is Deutsch ;D

Really impressive! You learned quite a lot and seem to be on your way to become fluent soon. Good luck for that. :)

Grattis! Did you know any Swedish before starting the Duolingo tree? If Duolingo taught you to type that entire paragraph, I'm really impressed. Lycka till på tyska!

No, I started from zero. Of course, I still need to use the dictionary sometimes, but I'd say the writing and reading skills that Duolingo provides are very good. When it comes to other skills, I can engage in a casual conversation about normal topics and understand enough, but I'm a bit far from speaking in a very spontaneous way. Tack så mycket :)

The best way I found to stay motivated is to set a goal and go for it, instead of just doing the tree. For example, my goal was (still is) to be able to read a Swedish book I've bought, and the tree would give me part of the vocabulary for it. By the middle of the tree, I felt just like you, and speaking Swedish with real people gave me the will to continue again. That might help you as well, if possible.

The main thing why it can get boring is too much doing the same at once. Don´t do too much, don´t overdo. Take your own speed and do it your way. If you get tired of learning from duolingo, learn from other sources, too.

Put words everywhere (e.g. a sticker saying "kniv" on a knive). Like that you see it everywhere. If you can, put the words into art. Draw a cat and put katt under it, if you can´t remember good (just an example :) ). Maybe make drawings with words which explain themselves, e.g. the word for bridge in form of a bridge, etc.

Google other ways or read books about "motivation" in general from your local library. Play minecraft in swedish.

I have friends in Sweden and we are also friends on facebook. I changed in facebook settings also my language to Swedish. So it helps also and it is fun. You don't even know you are learning on the way...

And you should find your own motivation. It is difficult if there is not any. Why did you choose to start learning Swedish? There has got to be a reason.

Mostly dictionaries, I'd say. Sometimes I would read and hear news in Sverigeradio, but I did it only a few times. I also read about 5 pages of a book in Swedish that I have, and spoke Swedish 3 times (once in a real conversation), but I'd say Duo taught me the most. This is not my first time studying a foreign language, though.

The Swedish version of "The Hunger Games", called "Hungerspelen". I chose this one because I had previously read in my native language, so that I'd be familiarized with the plot at least.

Well, I'd say there is no quite big difference. The order that stuff happen is exactly the same. It has a different feeling, though. I see it in Swedish words, for example "ju", that either take away meanings we have in Portuguese or make things more meaningful in a Swedish way.
