I wouldn't be so sure. "ogień" is simply one of the elements, the 'opposite' of water.

But when "fire", or rather "a fire" refers to something dangerous that makes you call the firefighters, the right word is "pożar".

Okay, I didn't know about that difference... But what you usually see with your eyes is "a fire". I think Ed Sheeran rather has a vision ;-)

Probably ;) Let me just mention another word: when you are sitting by the fire (safe one, hopefully), camping, that's "ognisko". Sure, English can use "bonfire" here, but "fire" also seems common.
