New Year starts a new week?

I just recognized that - although it's Friday - the counts on the weekly leader board are all zero. It seems that Duolingo interprets the start of new year as beginning of a new week as well?

Yeah, it's strange. (Even stranger since I'm on a Thursday right now. It's not even New Year here yet, and the weekly leaderboard reset. :P :D)

But it is a new Month.

The week/month counts have always been reset at the same time for everyone in the world to allow comparison of statistics. It has always been like this, its just that you are more aware of it because it is a New Year.

I am glad that I am not the only one. It is really strange for me because on the leaderboard it says I have 20 XP but I have 30 XP from today alone which I got all in one go. I was in the 500's and then I saw that I had 20 and was very confused. Must be a glitch or something. Hopefully next week it goes back to normal.
