Leader board weekly total reset on Friday.

For some reason my leader board has reset my weekly total to zero this morning. Is there a new year glitch?

Not a glitch. It's now Week 1 of 2016.

Looks like it is a glitch. A week starts on a Monday (ISO 8601) and this is not affected by a new month or year.

"a week"?

There are several definitions of a week - an ISO week is just one of them.

I believe that US companies usually count week 1 of a year as starting on 1 January, for example, even if ISO week 1 may start on 30 December or 4 January or some other day.

Similarly, for some people weeks start on Sunday (look at a US paper calendar, for example, or the one implemented in some kinds of software), for others on Monday (e.g. an ISO week); no doubt others will start "the week" on other days as well.

You are right, the US uses a non-standard system for week count and sometimes start of the week. I should have accounted for this.

I don't think it is a good idea to do this for a service that is targeted at an international audience though. I mean, this is not a US TV schedule website. Date and time issues, time zones, localization, formats shouldn't be an afterthought or use strange local customs.

But regardless of the week number I think that a weekly leaderboard should cover a week whether there is a change of month or year. It doesn't matter much if it starts on Sunday or Monday, just seven days, always.

It seems that the software implementation uses the US week number for the creation of a new leaderboard which leads to two leaderboards for the current week. A minor annoyance in this case, nothing worth to chafe about. Just an interesting tell-tale.

Yes, technically a week starts on Monday. But if it were to start on Monday, we'd miss 3 days.

How are we missing three days?

Now the "weekly" leaderboard will be one of three days only. Four days lost.

And regarding the week of the year: The first week of a year is the first week with a Thursday in the new year. So we are now still in the last week of 2015. The first week of 2016 begins next Monday.

I honestly don't know why the weekly leaderboard is coupled to the year. A week is Monday to Sunday, why implement any logic that breaks this? It is not a big deal, beginning with next Monday everything will work as expected. But someone has implemented this specifically to work this way, and I can't grasp why.

Now I am literally facepalming myself. >.< (No, not because you said anything wrong, I'm the one who's wrong)

No problem. If I would facepalm everytime I say something wrong I would run around blindly.

So, I lost my 155 day streak because the time counter reset and killed my streak freeze? I had just purchased it before a long train ride and when I logged in again my streak was 0. Can they help fix that? I've searched the forums and found a few things but I'm not sure if anyone else has had similar experiences or maybe has some extra insight into this.
