Russian Word List

Do you wish that you could see the list of all of the Russian words you have learned thus far, but the Word menu option is missing from above? You just need to a simple trick to get to it. This works for many other languages, as well.

Open duolingo in two tabs/windows at once, they should both be in a language that has the word list, ie. Spanish. Now, in just one of the tabs/windows, switch to Russian. Then, in the tab/window still showing the Words icon, click on it.

Voila. The Russian words list.

You can click on the word, see its translation, and play the audio for it.

This trick works for many other languages on Duolingo, but just in case someone here did not know that it worked for Russian...well, it does.

Wow! Well, that is ridiculous :P. I thought it really wasn't there because it wasn't implemented. Have a lingot :)

Ok, but there is still something weird going on with the <*sf> :)

I have a feeling that is the em dash being used for 'to be'.

How can that be? There are many words that become <*sf>, why would there be more than one entry of -

Tried and tested. It works. Awesome discovery my friend. Thanks for this tip.

Edit 1 - 23rd October 2017 - This trick no longer works. It throwns an error message that the page doesn't exist.

Could you post the direct link for those of us who do not have other courses that come with wordlists and flashcards?

January 5, 2016

Thanks, A_User! :D

It .. doesn't give me a 404 when I add an additional / to the end of the link. Without it, I just get hit in the face with a 404. But.. it's not supposed to be an empty page, is it? XD

Hm. I have no idea what's going on there.

Looks like I'll have to sign up for a course after all. See if it works then. I'll post back here with the update.

Aw, neither option works .:( /disappointed. Guess I'll have to get my wordlists from memrise or something then. kicks a small rock aside

That's strange. You'll find some way to learn them.

you can just subscribe for german if the link doesn't work, you will get the words list immediately i suppose (or maybe after 1 lesson).

Thanks, deHenk, but that doesn't appear to work for me. Neither option is accepted. I've gone back to German and did the first lesson so there'd be words there as well, but switching to Russian either leads to an empty page or simply presents me with the regular skill tree.

Slightly bummed now, but still thank you for the suggestion. It was a good try.

Are you sure you followed the instructions? Your writing suggests you went to the word page, then changed the language. What you need to do is open two tabs with duo, both in german. Switch one to russian. Then click on words in the other tab.

... yeah, totally missed that. It works now. /awake, obviously.

It will not work as a direct link. Duolingo uses a cookie to let the itself know which language you are studying. This dual-window trick is basically taking advantage of that.

Hey! Someone who has learned a lot of Ukrainian! You fellows do not seem to come out much.

    what do you mean? :P

    January 6, 2016

    [deactivated user]

I see very few people, in my sections of Duolingo, with high levels in Ukrainian.

      January 6, 2016

ah well. Thanks for calling my level high ;)

        Semi-related question:

Which do you like better, of Russian and Ukrainian, and why?

        January 6, 2016

        https://www.duolingo.com/profile/deHenk

hard to say, they are so similar :P the russian course is definitely a lot more extensive i think. advantage of ukrainian is that they actually pronounce the letters like they are written :P

Posting simple to follow directions: UPDATE - It is simpler and much easier to simply go to schools.duolingo.com and become an educator and then navigate to Cururriculum to see the word lists. The below instructions only works when it wants to, and might not work anymore.

Alternatively: Quizlet search for Duolingo Russian. Often times people have made duolingo russian flashcard sets. Memrise also sometimes have these.

Coming in March of 2019, tpkyteroo_luebeck will be making Duolingo Russian flashcard sets for Russian - English quizlet.com/class/8404917/ providing the minor throat surgery goes well in February.

The Instructions (that might not work anymore) 1. Log in first.

        1. Tab 1 - Switch to Spanish language.

        2. Open up the Spanish Word List in a NEW tab. This is Tab 2.

        3. In Tab 2, switch it to Russian Language.

        4. Go to Tab 1 and click on Word List. You should see a Russian word list of all the words you've learned.

Note: To get a word list of all the Russian word that Duolingo has, I've not found one yet. But, I did find a 483 flashcards set on Quizlet, through StudyFlash (iPhone App).

Thanks to ngarrang for his directions. I am posting what I did because I read the comments below and some people were having issues. I hope that my directions will make it simpler for any newbies to follow. Thanks!

still can't figure it out. I set up Spanish and French in two separate windows but I have to log out to get to Russian and no word list. I am obviously doing something wrong here.

UPDATE 2019: Word lists (the wordpress link is invalid now, so updating this) 1. Go to: schools.duolingo.com and become a "teacher". Choose Russian as the course you are teaching. Under Curriculuum, you'll see the word lists for Beginner, Intermediate and Advance. As a student, you'd have yourself. I do this. Its brilliant, because I get all the words I've learned, plus all the words coming up too. Best Wishes!

        1. Quizlet search for Duolingo Russian. Often times people have made duolingo russian flashcard sets. Memrise also sometimes have these.

        2. Coming in March of 2019, tpkyteroo_luebeck will be making Duolingo Russian flashcard sets for Russian - English quizlet.com/class/8404917/ providing the minor throat surgery goes well in February.

If you know German, you can get Deutsch - Russisch flashcard sets in the Deutsch - Russisch (Немецкий и Pусский) class. These aren't duolingo, and will not provide you with a duolingo word list.
