I Finished My German Tree!

I have waited so long to make this post! When I first started duolingo the thought of finishing my tree seemed impossible. It was one of those things that you dream of but know that there's a very slim chance that it will ever happen. That was two years ago. Now I have finished! It is an INCREDIBLE feeling to see that golden owl at the end of my tree, knowing that it represents hours upon hours of work, and a language learned.

There are few things like seeing that golden owl pop up when you've done the last lesson. It made me run around the house and run around the yard take a screenshot and thanks to Sjodni for giving me the idea, eat a "celebratory waffle!" I started duolingo about 2 years ago. But if I don't count one long break, I have been working at the German tree for about 21 months (a year and 9 months.)

Doing duolingo has not only taught me another language, but it has given me a greater appreciation for languages in general. Communication is incredibly important part of life and programs like duolingo make it possible for any random person to be able to communicate with millions of people they would never be able to talk to before.

I want to give a big thank you to all the duolingo staff, moderators, course contributers, and helpful individuals. But most of all I want to thank Luis von Ahn and Severin Hacker for starting this amazing program.

THANK YOU. SO MUCH. VIEL DANK!

Next I either learn Swedish because it's really pretty... and because why not? or Spanish because it's useful.

Do what you want to do, not what someone says you have to do.

I totally agree with PfifltriggPi, do what you feel you should do. And by my personal experience, Swedish will be really easy for you.

I suggest spanish to learn because I believe it is the second most spoken language in the world. Also good job! Any pointers on learning German?

Thanks! In German it's important to try to understand how the grammer works because that will make it A LOT easier than trying to guess. Also, Spanish is the third most spoken language, first is Chinese, then English.
