Songs for Dutch beginners!

I know it's super silly, but look up "Nederlandse Kinderliedjes" on YouTube and watch their videos! It's kids songs we already know (english speakers at least), in Dutch with dutch subtitles! It's been super helpful to me and it's good for a laugh too!

This is not a kinderliedje, but it still fits here, maybe.

Ik heb 'n toe- toe- toeter

op m'n waterscooter,

daarmee toe- toe- toeter

ik naar jou

.

Ik heb 'n toe- toe- toeter

op m'n waterscooter,

daarmee toeter ik naar elke vrouw

TRANSLATION:

I've got a hoo- hoo- hooter

on my water scooter

which I too- too- toot

I toot to you

.

I've got a hoo- hoo- hooter

on my water scooter

which I too- too- toot to ev'ry womaaan...

I HATED that song with a passion when my FWB would sing it incessantly just to annoy me. But now that that's all in the past, I'm left behind with mixed feelings... My god, it's such a terrible song... :')

Here, I found you a link: PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

This should be the new Rick Roll...

Here are a few suggestions that are easy to follow: K3 - a childrens band with an seemingly endless repetoire, singing about pets, heartbreak, partying and other stuff. Some of their songs were big hits, for example; Teleromeo, Oya Lé Lé, Alle Kleuren, Heyah Mama, Toveren, and more recently 10.000 Luchtballonnen. Kinderen voor Kinderen - a childrens show choir who sing mainly about problems children face in their lives, or dreams they have. Famous songs: Ik heb zo waanzinnig gedroomd, Op een onbewoond eiland, Ik word altijd wakker met een wijsje in mijn hoofd, Meidengroep, and Ha, ha, ha je vader. Samba Salad - a band who cover world music with Dutch lyrics for children. Very amusing and good music with swing. I'd also suggest to find some Dutch translations of musical songs. Hope this helps and good luck! I'm doing the same with Norwegian by the way. :)

I can give you the name of some Dutch children's shows on Netflix but that's about it. I live in Belgium and I can attest that Dutch-language music (as in not children's music) is pretty much nonexistent. :P There are a few rap artists in Dutch, that's about all I've found.

How about Jan Smit, Jim Bakkum (from "Idol"), Ali B (rap), Frans Bauer, Gerard Joling, André Hazes, André van Duin, Guus Meeuwis, and many more? All famous in the Netherlands, all of whom sing in mostly if not exclusively Dutch.

I mean, I don't even like Dutch music at all (sorry) unless I've gotten myself completely wasted in een kroeg, which stopped happening years ago, so seeing as I don't even look for them, there are bound to be many more Dutch artists I haven't even heard about...
